American sculptor, who's artworks unlike ordinary glass sculptures are not born on fire. Jack Storms uses cold processed dichroic glass to create them. It contains numerous ultrathin layers of various metals and their oxides. Such glass is like a gem. The master glues the polished pieces of dichroic glass with epoxy, and then creates a shell of crystal for them. It takes from 2 to 5 months to make one sculpture. Jack Storms artworks are sold at prices ranging from 5 to 500 thousand dollars. At the same time, the master does not have time to satisfy the demand of customers.
“I incorporate the Fibonacci sequence, or Fibonacci ratios into my work. The Fibonacci sequence is the golden ratio, it is everywhere in nature and it is reflected in art. A key task in my art is to combine straight lines which do not exist in nature with natural proportions, surrounding us everywhere. This approach makes my works non-technocratic, allowing people to interact with them” - Jack Storms.
